Appliance Recycling Rewards

Earn money for responsibly recycling your old appliances.

Do you have an extra fridge or freezer adding to your electric bill? Have you bought a new appliance but don’t know what to do with your old one? Now is the perfect time to retire your aging unit, save energy, and get rewarded!

Efficiency Smart will pick up your working appliance for free and pay you $100 for each eligible refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier, or window air conditioner responsibly recycled.

The 2025 seasonal Appliance Recycling Rewards program has concluded. Check back in 2026 for more information on next year’s program.

Eligibility Requirements

Limit of four units recycled per household, per year. Only electric customers of participating utilities are eligible. Check the drop-down list in the submission form below for eligible electric utilities.
    • Units must be between 1 and 30 cubic feet.
    • Must be in working condition with functional cooling.
    • Must be empty at the time of pick-up and free of mold and pests.
    • Must be at least a 15-pint model to qualify.
    • Must be in working condition.
    • No size requirements.
    • Must be in working condition with functional cooling.
    • Must be removed from the wall or window and unplugged.
